Gerry’s Grill started slowly but still managed to edge Snowbird Sando Bags, 63-53, in the 7^th Grace Alumni Basketball League (GABL) Fellowship Division – World Balance Cup at the SGS Stadium in Quezon City.

After trailing 12-20 at the end of first period of play, Gerry’s Grill sensed urgency and tightened their defense to start the second quarter, not allowing Snowbird to score more than 12 points on the succeeding quarters.

Kenson Ng scored 19 points to lead Gerry’s to their third straight win and securing a spot at the quarter finals round. Gerry’s also snapped the four game winning streak of Snowbird Sando Bags.

Kingslee See finished with 14 points for the Sando Bag Makers who finished the elimination round with a 5-3 win loss record.

The tournament together with World Balance aims to strengthen friendship through sports. All the games for this season were played at the newly constructed SGS Stadium along G. Araneta Avenue, which features a first-class basketball flooring and shooting goals, locker rooms and multi-level parking. It also has four extra ceiling mounted retractable goals which makes the venue ideal for tournaments and team practices.

In the other game, Koba shut down Supreme-Olympia’s quarter-finals hope with a 90-74 win, while assuring themselves that they will face the lowest ranked team that enters the quarter-finals round.

John Vincent Ong scored 24 points to lead the defending champion who trailed 15-18 at the end of first quarter.

Jefferson Ongteco finished with 15 points for Supreme-Olympia, who will be the second team to bow out of the tournament.
